Jane Ward
Instructor
Jane has been training in the martial arts since 1985, under Master Lam Kam-Chuen. She is a qualified instructor in Lam Tai Chi and Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung. She has been teaching since 1995 in a variety of settings and communities. She trained as a nurse in the late 1980's and worked for four years in cardiac care.
With this background, since 1998, she has primarily taught classes aimed at the 60+ age group and people referred by their doctors or other health professionals. She has thus gained extensive experience of adapting movements to enable people with a range of physical limitations to participate in and benefit from these exercise systems.
Jane specializes in Tai Chi for falls prevention. (For an article about this work, see "Crouching Grannies, Hidden Tigers" by John Naish in The Times, July 16, 2005.) She developed the Adapted Tai Chi module for the Postural Stability Instructor Course offered by Laterlife Training (see www.laterlifetraining.co.uk ). She is a member of Camden Council's Active Health team, offering regular classes as well as one-off sessions to specialist groups such as participants in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
Jane offers workshops and presentations on Tai Chi to health professionals and exercise instructors around the country. Please contact her for details.
